Steps involved in a Home Energy Audit
1. Click on the Schedule an Energy Audit Tab or call PDG at 434-973-6055 and schedule an appointment.
2. An auditor will meet with you to review your utility consumption and discuss your concerns and reasons for obtaining an energy audit.
3. A thorough energy audit usually takes about 3 hours to complete. The auditor will inspect every room in your home, as well as the attic, crawlspaces and exterior looking for issues such as insulation and air sealing deficiencies, heating and cooling problems, lighting fixtures, hot water heating equipment, appliance efficiency, and combustion safety. Specialized equipment such as a blower door and combustion efficiency analyzers are standard protocol for the audit process.
Payment, Rebates and Incentives
A Home Energy Audit from PDG costs $400. Since we are a participating contractor with Charlottesville’s Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP), you are entitled to a rebate of $250 for just having an energy audit performed.
